Transportation and Infrastructure Committee

Charter, Mission, Program of Work

Mission: The Emeryville Chamber of Commerce Transportation and Infrastructure Committee was formed to address the critical role transportation and infrastructure play in the life of Emeryville business. Emeryville’s position – off Interstate 80, adjacent to the Oakland-San Francisco Bay Bridge, near Interstate 580, the Oakland International Airport and Port of Oakland, and near major BART, bus, and ferry lines – makes our town critically dependent on a reliable and healthy transportation infrastructure. .The Committee will work to ensure that the transportation needs of the Emeryville business community are represented by:

  • Working with federal, state, regional and local governmental agencies to identify specific impediments and needed enhancements to the local transportation infrastructure and work to successfully address them;

  • Monitoring federal, state, local and regional legislation that impacts the local transportation network and, working with the Government Affairs Committee, recommending appropriate policy positions for Chamber action;

  • With the Government Affairs Committee, reviewing state and local ballot measures that impact the transportation and infrastructure network and recommending appropriate policy positions for Chamber action;

  • Helping to organize and sponsor Chamber luncheons, seminars, and other events related to transportation and infrastructure issues.

  • Serving as a unified business voice on local transportation issues.

Structure: Membership on the Emeryville Chamber of Commerce and Industries Association Transportation and Infrastructure Committee is open to any Chamber member in good standing. Other individuals or organizations may be invited to participate in Committee activities for the purpose of providing technical information or other input to help the Committee accomplish its work, but will not have a vote on policy issues unless they are a member of the Chamber. The Committee will meet at least quarterly throughout the year and more often if necessary to conduct Committee business.
