Lifelong learning and education is a reality in today’s constantly-changing, fast-paced society.

Leadership East Bay, a joint program of the Emeryville and Berkeley Chambers of Commerce, is perfectly tailored to meet the educational and professional development needs of today’s business people and residents who are committed to building a healthier community and developing individual leadership skills.

Leadership East Bay offers a program that is:

Focusedon local issues impacting our businesses, neighborhoods and schools.

Affordable.Tuition for the program is $1,000 for the entire Program year, including a 2-day off-site retreat in mid-September, and all course materials.

High quality, featuring day-long, in-depth examinations of topics impacting our businesses and neighborhoods. Presenters include elected officials, civic and community leaders, educators and expert speakers.

Community building. In an era of on-line, impersonal digital communications, Leadership East Bay helps participants build lifelong, real face-to-face partnerships with their classmates.

Efficient and effective, by maximizing your time with a concentrated, high-impact program.

Leadership East Bay is open to those who either live or work in Emeryville or Berkeley. The eight Leadership East Bay sessions are conducted on the second Friday of each month, starting in October and continuing through May.

Sample topics for each month’s Class include: Green Business and Environmental Issues, Land Use, Housing and Transportation, Media and Communication, Criminal Justice, Education, Health & Human Services, Government, and Economic Development.

The Class will also visit different locations and subject experts will address the Class on issues, ideas and strategies.

The program begins with a two day, out of town retreat from Thursday evening, September 13th, to noon, Saturday the 15th. It is at this retreat that goals and objectives of the program are covered, to go along with team-building activities and leadership development. The off-site retreat is included in the Leadership East Bay tuition of $1,000 per student.

Tuition and Fees. The tuition for Leadership East Bay is $1,000 per participant. A 50% deposit is required with the submission of the initial application, and the remaining 50% is due on or before August 31, 2007.
