Leadership East Bay Program Launched;
Applications Now Being Accepted
Lifelong
learning and education is a reality in today’s constantly-changing, fast-paced
society.
Leadership
East Bay, a joint program of the Emeryville and Berkeley Chambers of Commerce,
is perfectly tailored to meet the educational and professional development
needs of today’s business people and residents who are committed to building a
healthier community and developing individual leadership skills.
Leadership
East Bay offers a program that is:
Focusedon local issues impacting our
businesses, neighborhoods and schools.
Affordable.Tuition for the program is $1,000
for the entire Program year, including a 2-day off-site retreat in
mid-September, and all course materials.
High quality, featuring day-long, in-depth
examinations of topics impacting our businesses and neighborhoods. Presenters
include elected officials, civic and community leaders, educators and expert
speakers.
Community
building. In an era
of on-line, impersonal digital communications, Leadership East Bay helps
participants build lifelong, real face-to-face partnerships with their
classmates.
Efficient
and effective, by
maximizing your time with a concentrated, high-impact program.
Leadership
East Bay is open to those who either live or work in Emeryville or Berkeley.
The eight Leadership East Bay sessions are conducted on the second Friday of
each month, starting in October and continuing through May.
Sample topics
for each month’s Class include: Green Business and Environmental Issues, Land
Use, Housing and Transportation, Media and Communication, Criminal Justice,
Education, Health & Human Services, Government, and Economic Development.
The Class
will also visit different locations and subject experts will address the Class
on issues, ideas and strategies.
The program
begins with a two day, out of town retreat from Thursday evening, September
13th, to noon, Saturday the 15th. It is at this retreat that goals and
objectives of the program are covered, to go along with team-building
activities and leadership development. The off-site retreat is included in the
Leadership East Bay tuition of $1,000 per student.
Tuition
and Fees.The
tuition for Leadership East Bay is $1,000 per participant. A 50% deposit is required
with the submission of the initial application, and the remaining 50% is due on
or before August 31, 2007. This includes lodging and food for the two-day
retreat, continental breakfast and lunch during each of the eight-day sessions,
as well as books and necessary materials.
Space in
Leadership East Bay is limited so applicants are urged to apply early! Reserve
