CHARTER,
MISSION, PROGRAM OF WORK
AMENDED JUNE,
2003
MISSION: The
mission of the Emeryville Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs
and Transportation Committee is to be the primary vehicle
through which the Emeryville Chamber will establish and maintain
an identity and reputation as a business leader in public policy
decision making at all levels of government. Chamber staff and
Committee members will participate in business advocacy
activities throughout the year. The Committee will ensure that
the Chamber has an aggressive local government advocacy program,
in addition to representing its members at the State and federal
levels.
The Government
Relations and Transportation Committee will accomplish this
mission by:

Regular attendance
at Emeryville City Council and Council Committee meetings.

Regular liaison with
elected officials, appointed officials and their staffs to
maintain open lines of communication and personal relationships
built on trust and credibility.

Holding regular
Committee meetings where the legislative and regulatory concerns
of members can be addressed and where speakers can provide
information to members for the purpose of making informed
recommendations to the Board of Directors.

Coordinating
activities with the EEF and other organizations that support the
EUSD.

Reviewing
legislative proposals that impact the EUSD and recommending
policy positions to the EUSD Board of Directors for Chamber
action.

Identifying needs of
EUSD graduates in obtaining success in higher education by
building relationship with the Peralta Community College system,
U.C., and other local institutions of higher learning;Serving as
a unified business voice on education issues.
